Anja Short, a year 12 student, recently joined the ION Marketing Team for a week of work experience. Here she gives us a summary of her week:
The main aim for my week at ION was to get insight into a working environment and help support my university applications,with many universities favouring applicants with experience and workplace skills. Throughout the week I was able to collaborate with the marketing team and given the responsibility to manage my own tasks. My tasks included creating content and doing research to help inform marketing decisions. Working on these, has helped me to develop a range of skills, including how to analytically write reports and research data.
The team at ION was extremely welcoming and friendly and the communication I received before starting my work experience was outstanding. This meant that I already felt involved with the team before I had begun. My week was planned efficiently and involved several informative sessions which gave me further insights into ION and working as part of a team. By day two of the week, I was well incorporated into the wider team and was familiar with how the business operated.
I have gained valuable transferable skills from my week at ION including problem-solving,teamwork and beneficial communication skills through carrying out tasks such as empirically writing research documents and creating reports. I am thankful to the ION team for providing me with skills which I will carry in my university applications and even throughout my long-term career.
The ION team has thoroughly enjoyed having Anja as a part of the business over the last week and are glad we have provided her with skills and experiences which she can carry forward into her future. ION wishes Anja all the best for her university applications and beyond.
